Allahabad HC refuses to stay Mukhtar Ansari’s arrest in land-grabbing case | Lucknow News – Times of India

LUCKNOW: A Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court on Wednesday dismissed a plea of jailed gangster and BSP MLA Mukhtar Ansari, declining to stay his arrest in connection with an FIR lodged against him and his two sons for alleged grabbing of property in posh Dalibagh area of the city.
Passing the order on Mukhtar’s petition, a bench of Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Rajeev Singh reserved its order for delivering its detailed order.
The court, however, extended stay on arrest of his two sons – Abbas and Umar – till March 4 as their lawyer had sought time to file rejoinder affidavit against the counter- affidavit filed by the state government. The two sons were granted interim stay on arrest on October 21, 2020 in the same matter.
Challenging the FIR lodged with Hazratganj police, Ansari had pleaded that the FIR did not disclose commission of cognizance offence and that it had been lodged due to mala fide reasons.
The FIR was lodged with Hazratganj Police on August 27, 2020 against Mukhtar and his sons for allegedly cheating and committing forgery in regard to a land in Dalibagh area. It mentioned that the accused got a map sanctioned by the LDA in fraudulent manner for the purpose of raising construction on it.
