Andhra Pradesh: 93 students and 8 staff at Kasturba school at Adoni test positive for Covid-19 | Vijayawada News – Times of India

TIRUPATI: 101 people including 93 students and 8 staffers at the Kasturba Gandhi school at Adoni in Kurnool district tested positive for Covid-19.
Officials have declared a week long holiday at the school and all the remaining students have been placed under home isolation.
District medical and health officer Dr Ramagiddaiah told reporters that 23 inmates of the school including 15 students and 8 staffers were the first who tested positive for the novel Coronavirus on April 12, prompting officials to screen all the 300 odd students at the school for Covid-19 on the 15th of this month. Test results confirmed that 93 students and 8 staffers at the school had tested positive for Covid-19.
State Health minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas spoke to Kurnool DMHO Dr Ramagiddaiah and enquired about the Kusturba school incident.
He directed the health department officials to enforce stringent measures to prevent the further outbreak of Covid-19 in Kurnool district.
“Because the second wave appears to be severe 11 Covid care centres have been established at various places across the district. Everyday we are carrying out 3500 RTPCR tests and 507 fresh Covid-19 cases have been reported in Kurnool district so far in the second wave”, the minister added.
