Chandigarh Lockdown News: Chandigarh imposes additional Covid restrictions from May 4 to 11 | Chandigarh News – Times of India

CHANDIGARH: On the lines of Punjab and Haryana, the Chandigarh administration on Monday imposed additional Covid restrictions in the Union Territory (UT), which will be effective from 5pm on May 4 to 5am on May 11.
The daily night curfew from 6pm to 5am and weekend lockdown will remain continue. Except for essential item shops like milk, bread, vegetables, fruits, dairy products, eggs, meat, mobile repair, all other shops will remain closed.
In the review meeting, chaired by the UT administrator VP Singh Badnore, the restrictions imposed by Punjab and Haryana were discussed.
“Keeping in view the fact Chandigarh being the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, total sealing of borders will not be possible. It was also felt that a total lockdown for long period will adversely affect the economy and may also lead to migration of labourers from the city, thereby causing massive disruption. Hence, a considered decision was taken to have limited restrictive measures,” said the UT adviser Manoj Parida.
