ISI module: UP ATS nabs three more terror suspects | Lucknow News – Times of India

LUCKNOW: The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the Uttar Pradesh police on Wednesday arrested three more suspects linked to the ISI module busted by the Delhi police on Tuesday.
The accused men, Jameel of Rae Bareli, Imtiyaz of Pratapgarh and Tahir of Prayagraj (all in their late 20s), have been handed over to the Delhi police.
In a joint operation on Tuesday, UP ATS and special cell of Delhi police had arrested three persons – Moolchand of Rae Bareli, Mohammed Amir of Lucknow, and Zeeshan Qamar of Prayagraj. Cops had also recovered an IED from their possession.

Additional director general of police, law and order, Prashant Kumar said though the basic tip-off about the module was forwarded by the Delhi police about 10 days ago, the arrests were made on the basis of intelligence gathered and developed by UP ATS.
“It was an onerous task to trace the suspects in view of back-to-back VIP visits to the state. We used our best Special Police Operation Team (SPOT) for the operation and nabbed six persons after scanning surveillance inputs for 10 days,” he said.
Kumar added that the group was planning to execute serial IED blasts in the state. “Large congregations in major cities of UP during the upcoming festival season were the likely targets,” the officer said.
The ADG said countrymade pistols and explosives had been recovered from the trio.
“As the main case is related to Delhi police, the suspects and the recovered case property has been handed over to them,” he added.
Sources in the ATS said the main task of the suspects was to conduct reconnaissance of prime targets and then carry weapons to the location.
ATS officials said Zeeshan Qamar, one of the arrested suspects on Tuesday, was trained by the ISI and was tasked to conduct the recce of different locations in Delhi and UP for planting of IEDs. He said Zeeshan was imparted training in handling of AK47 guns and making IEDs.
