The derailment between Angul and Talcher Road appears to be due to rainwater flooding the tracks, he said.
Since there is only single tracks between Angul and Talcher Road, trains running on this route had to be either cancelled or diverted, he said.
The trains which have been cancelled include Bhubaneswar-Balangir, Rourkela-Puri, Hatia-Puri, Durg-Puri, Rourkela-Gunupur from both directions.
Puri-Lok Manya Tilak weekly express has also been cancelled while Rourkela-Bhubaneswar will be short terminated at Sambalpur city.
The Anand Vihar-Bhubaneswar Special which departed Anand Vihar on Monday will run via Chakradharpur-Jaroli and Jakhapura.
The Visakhapatnam-Amritsar Special from Visakhapatnam (now at Khalikot) will run via Vizianagaram-Rayagada-Titilagarh-Sambalpur.
The Durg-Puri Special which left Durg on Monday now at Boinda will run via Sambalpur-Titilagarh-Vizianagaram-Khurda Road.
Hatia-Puri Tapaswini Special that left Hatia on Monday now at Angul will run via Sambalpur-Titilagarh-Vizianagaram-Khurda Road.
