Raipur Lockdown News: Complete lockdown in Raipur district from April 9 to 19 | Raipur News – Times of India

RAIPUR: Hit by 2,821 new Covid infections and 26 deaths in 24 hours, Raipur will go into complete lockdown for nearly 10 days from April 9. Even banks will be closed.
Three other districts — Durg, Rajnandgaon and Bemetara — are already under lockdown. Raipur was heading towards lockdown with a surge in Covid infections — over 10,000 in less than a week and nearly 100 deaths.
Raipur collector S Bharthidasan told reporters that it has become necessary to impose a lockdown and restrict movement of people due to a spurt in Covid-19 cases and deaths.
The Raipur lockdown kicks in at 6pm on April 9 and will end at 6am on April 19. Barring ‘very essential services’, all other activities are restricted. The district borders will be sealed and all offices — government, semi-government and private — will remain closed during this period.
“All shops, markets, vegetable vends, kirana stores, liquor shops, and commercial and departmental zones will remain shut,” the collector said. So will all religious, cultural and tourism sites. No gathering — social, religious or political — will be allowed.
Milk and newspaper delivery is allowed between 6am and 8am and 5pm and 6.30pm. “There should be no crowding at milk parlours and proper physical distancing should be maintained and everyone must wear masks,” the collector said.
All medical stores will run between a specific period to be decided by administration, said the collector, adding that home delivery of medicines should be preferred. Pet shops will be opened only for pet food services from 6-8am and 5-6.30pm.
Railway, airports and telecom services will remain operational. Petrol pumps will be open but only for essential services — ambulances, police, medical, government, media, LPG delivery, ATM, newspaper hawkers and milkmen. Students will be given petrol if they produce examination cards. Those travelling out of the district need to get e-passes.
Factories and construction sites can operate but they must keep all workers on the premises and arrange for their food and accommodation. Workers will not be allowed to shuttle between home and factory, Bharthidasan said. Public transport will be allowed for travel from and to railway stations, bus-stands and the airport.
A few government offices, like collectorate, IG’s office, SP, treasury and CMHO, will stay open, but entry of the public will be restricted.
Educational institutions conducting offline examinations will have to seek permission from the government, and students who need to go out of the district/ state for examinations can do so only if they have a proper medical certificate and e-pass.
The district administration also decided not to allow Covid patients above 55 years in home isolation. They will be taken to hospital in ambulances. Anganwadi workers will be used for surveillance of containment zones. They will put up stickers and ribbons outside the houses of those in home isolation.
