Shahdol news: 19-year-old abducted, gang-raped for 2 days in Madhya Pradesh | Bhopal News – Times of India

BHOPAL: A 19-year-old girl was abducted and gang-raped for two days by four persons — including a schoolteacher and local BJP leader — in Shahdol, said police on Sunday. She is in critical condition.
“After raping her, the accused, who were identified as BJP Jaitpur mandal president Vijay Tripathi, teacher Rajesh Shukla, Munna Singh and Monu Maharaj, threw the girl off a car near her house on Saturday night,” said Shahdol SP Awadesh Goswami.
The girl was taken to a hospital in Jaitpur, from where she was referred to Shahdol district hospital, about 60km away, on Sunday afternoon where her condition is stated to be critical.
Jaitpur police on Sunday registered an FIR against all the accused under IPC 363 (abduction) and 376 (d) (gang rape). They are absconding, said police. Teams are out looking for them, said the SP.
Her family members allege that police didn’t take quick action in the matter and even the FIR was registered after 15-16 hours.
The girl’s brother-in-law said, “She was abducted on the night of February 18 from her house, and the family lodged a complaint with Jaitpur police. On Saturday night, the accused dumped her on a road near her home and fled.”
She was unconscious when the family found her. “She was admitted to a hospital in Jaitpur. After she gained consciousness, she told police that Rajesh Shukla had abducted her and taken her to his farmhouse. There, she was forced to take liquor and then raped by four men, including the BJP leader, for two days, she has alleged.
The survivor has named all the accused, her brotherin-law told media. “She was found at 10pm on Saturday near her house and police registered an FIR only at 4pm on Sunday. Police were not ready to register a case, and did so until the crime was highlighted by the media,” he alleged.
However, the SP refuted the allegation of delayed response and said the case was registered after preliminary investigation without any delay. Despite repeated attempts, BJP state president VD Sharma couldn’t be contacted for comment.
