Two Indore cops brutally thrash man; suspended | Indore News – Times of India

INDORE: A video of two constables brutally kicking and punching a man in Indore’s Pardeshipura went viral on Tuesday, triggering horror and outrage and leading to the suspension of the two cops.
The victim was caught without a mask and allegedly attacked the policemen when they tried to book him for violating Covid rules. The 1.54-minute clip shared widely on Twitter shows the two policemen repeatedly hitting the man in the face even after he falls on the ground.
In a heart-stopping moment, one of the cops seems to have his knee on his throat as he struggles to get free. Then, they go back to kicking him with their boots. All the while, his 12-year-old son pleads with the ‘uncles’ to stop hitting his father. SP Ashutosh Bagri said the incident was reported in the morning in Pardeshipura area when Covid checks were on and people without masks were being fined.
Unacceptable; probe on: Cop
He said the man was riding a two-wheeler drunk, without a face mask on, when he was stopped by police. He abusing the constables and hit one of them, said the SP.
“The constables thrashed him. This is unacceptable under any circumstances and accused have been suspended and attached to SP office. We have ordered a departmental inquiry by CSP Nihit Upadhyay,” said DIG Manish Kapooriya. “The one who took the video deleted the part where the man hit the policemen and made the second part viral, trying to mislead. Even so, the acts (of the cops) are punishable and they have been suspended,” Bagri said. Police say the man who got beaten is a habitual offender.
